Y6 Skellig Class

This year in English, we will be reading high-quality texts including The Man Who Walked Between the Towers; The Bear and the Hare; The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse; Grimm Tales; Suffragette - The Battle for Equality and more!

In Guided Reading this year, we will be following Destination Reader. We will be engaging in daily, structured sessions to support the children to read with greater understanding, enjoyment and purpose

In Maths, we will be learning to use all four operations to solve a variety of multi-step problems; finding the percentage of a number; completing calculations with all operations with fractions; learn to find the missing angles in quadrilaterals and triagnles and convert units.

Topics this year include: 

• What would a journey through your body look like?

• How were the Maya an advanced civilisation?

• Will you ever see the water you drink again?

• What can we learn about evolution and inheritance?

• What happens in our solar sysyem?

• We are mapmakers!

Highlights of the year will include Year 6 Fun Day, the Year 6 Perfromace and a visit to the Isle of Wight! We also host a range of Buzz Days, including: Viking Day and a visit to a local Mosque.
