This half term our topic will be ✨'All About Me'✨ We will be focusing on the similarities and differences each of us have and how this makes us unique. We will be reading key texts such as The Great Big Book of Families, Peace at Last as well as lots of others.
Phonics
We will be starting our phonics teaching this half term. We are starting with Phase 2. We will continue to follow the 'Read, Write Inc' Phonics scheme. Each day we will do a 15 minute class based phonics session. This will consist of identifying sounds, learning how to form the grapheme correctly and segmenting words into their individual sounds.
Reading
Your child will be coming home with a reading book in the upcoming weeks. As a school we very much promote reading for pleasure and we would like your child to read at least 3x a week. Your child needs to hand their book in daily, so they can have it changed and read with an adult in school when it is their day. To begin with the books may not have words - this is so the children can create their own stories from the pictures with you.
Maths
This half term we will be focusing on matching, sorting and comparing amounts. We will be using lots of practical resources such as numicon, blocks, multi-link cubes and 2D shapes.
