Ensenada Class

Our literacy work this half-term will be based around King King, a text written by Anthony Browne following the story of the classic film. We will be thinking closely about the purpose for which we are writing, with the outcome of a formally written newspaper report.

In maths we will be focusing on fractions. We will be identifying, naming and writing equivalent fractions; comparing and ordering fractions whose denominators and multiples of the same number; converting mixed numbers to improper fractions; adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators; multiplying fractions by whole numbers; reading and writing decimal numbers as fractions; and solving problems.

In science our big question is ‘Do you have what it takes to be a CSI investigator?’ We will be looking at the properties of different materials and which changes to materials are reversible or irreversible.

In humanities our big question is ‘Why should the rainforest be important to us all?’ We will be learning about features, conditions and location of the world’s rainforests; animals that live in them; and the threats that the rainforest is under.
