Dear Parents and Carers,

This week has been National Healthy Eating Week and children have enjoyed a virtual class assembly led by Mrs Buchanan. Children enjoyed the story ‘The Healthy Wolf’ and found out all about healthy nutrition in a short video.

Due to a slight increase in Covid-19 cases in the Biggin Hill area, last week we shared some information from the NHS South East London Clinical Commissioning Group regarding ‘Pop-up’ vaccination clinics running locally. Although these clinics have now finished, you can still book you vaccination through the national booking system at: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination /book-coronavirus-vaccination or by calling 119 free of charge.

I would like to thank Mrs Horgan and Miss Elliott for starting an after school netball club for year 5 and 6 children. This was very well attended and I am sure it will become a firm favourite. If your child is interested in joining, please contact the school office.

Our short article regarding ‘Break the Rules Day’ can be found on page 4. It was such a fund day, thanks to everyone for taking part in this brilliant event.

We would also like to congratulate Mrs Sanford and her husband on the safe arrival of a beautiful baby girl, Matilda Mae. On behalf of everyone in our school community, we send Mrs Sanford our love and very best wishes.

We have also started the recruitment process for a Learning Support Assistant to join our fabulous team of LSAs and a SENCo Assistant to support our Deputy Headteacher and Inclusion Team. For more information, please visit our website at: https://www.bigginhillprimary.com/vacancies-careers

Please also look out for virtual class assemblies which should be posted to the class streams today. I know this is not quite the same as our in school class assemblies, however we hope this goes some way to sharing the children's learning with you.

Next week, I am delighted to be able to welcome our new reception families joining us in September at our Meet and Greet. Although this will be virtual, I will do my very best to give everyone a very warm welcome to our school community.

Finally, please make sure that you check your emails today for a letter about our new reporting and assessment arrangements and new classes for next year. Today the children will be told who their new class teachers will be next year. If you do have any queries or questions regarding the content of this letter, do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a great weekend everyone!

My very best wishes,

Mrs Freeman

Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
