Dear Parents and Carers,

This morning we were treated to a marvellous assembly from year 1, Greta Thunberg Class. Seeing how much the children have been learning, how engaged they are and their confidence was wonderful. A very special ‘well done’ to them all and also to Mrs Lucas and Miss Turner for preparing the children so well.

An enormous ‘well done’ to our year 2 children this week for completing their SATs. Again, seeing these young children approach this week with such positivity and effort has been wonderful - we are very proud of them all! Thank you to Miss O’Mahony, Mrs Windover, Mrs Sanford and the many staff involved in administering the SATs.

On Wednesday morning we waved off year 4 as they headed out on their Bushcraft residential trip. We welcome them back later today and I am sure they will have so many tales to tell! For children who have not attended Bushcraft, we have had a very exciting few days in school including enjoying a pizza lunch and bowling trip! We will provide a little more information on the Bushcraft trip in the coming weeks, but for now I would like to thank Mrs Buchanan, Mr Day, Mrs Greenslade and Mrs Horgan for taking such great care of the children and a very special ‘thank you’ to Mrs Wythers for taking care of the administrative side of the trip. Finally, thank you to Miss Knott and Mrs Sargeant for ensuring that our children who did not attend Bushcraft had their own exciting week.

Next week, we look forward to hosting our first Community Coffee Morning (25th May 8.45-10am) and we will be joined by the Friends who will be holding their first Pre-loved School Uniform sale - so please do come along.

We have enjoyed ‘Walk to School’ week this week - many children have enjoyed taking the opportunity to walk or ‘park and stride’ to school. Walk to School week is a national initiative by Living Streets who support schools to promote active living, a reduction in pollution and to reduce congestion in their local areas.

Can I remind parents and carers to ensure that engines are turned off whilst outside school - not only is this good for our local environment, it protects everyone from the additional toxic pollution caused by running engines. Please spare a thought for Martin, our children and local residents and switch off your engine!

On Tuesday, the Friends emailed parents and carers about the ‘Jump for Jubilee’ sponsored bounce which is taking place on the same day as our Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The sponsored bounce is always great fun and all proceeds raised will directly benefit the children at the school - so please encourage friends and family to sponsor your child.

Just a final reminder, class photographs will be taking place on Monday, 23rd May.

Have a wonderful weekend.

My very best wishes,

Mrs Freeman

Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
