Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy week here at BHPS. The children have been working really hard and despite the awful weather have managed to get outside for some really fun playtimes too!

On Mondays and Tuesdays, Olive, our school dog is in school. Children in EYFS and KS1 have been able to choose to come up onto the field to play with her while she is off her lead. If your child is wary of dogs - please do not worry - this is a choice and when Olive is on the playground she is always on her lead. Children have really enjoyed throwing her ball, taking her for a walk and giving her treats. She has even shown them a trick or two. She loves being at school but is very unimpressed to be left in my office by herself - we are going to have to work on this - as soon as I leave she starts to cry!

The LLT (Leading Learning Team) have been looking at reading across the school, with a particular focus on our new programme in KS2 - Destination Reader. We are pleased with what we have seen so far and believe that this way of teaching reading will lead to really great progress being made.

This Sunday there is an event for families at St Mark’s Church:

“On Sunday 24th September, starting at 3.30pm, there will be a ‘Forest Church’ in the grounds of St Mark’s Church, Biggin Hill, where we will be enjoying outdoor activities for all the family.  Drinks and cakes will be provided.  All are welcome to attend - please join us if you can.”

Have a great weekend!

My very best wishes,

Mrs Freeman
