Henri Rousseau Class

Throughout the course of year 2 we will have many driver questions in Science and Humanities that enable the children to develop their enquiry and reasoning skills to the standard expected at this age. Through these subjects we shall also link in our numeracy and literacy skills where appropriate.

During our Numeracy lessons we shall constantly be revisiting all areas, with a key focus on developing children’s reasoning. Place value and the 4 operations will be visited more often than other areas due to building on and cementing children’s basic skills and understanding.

Throughout literacy we will be using quality texts to provide a range of teaching opportunities of different genres. Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG) is an important part of this process and a key focus during this development stage of skills and understanding for young children.

Our half termly curriculum maps will give you a more in depth view/ understanding of the objectives that we shall be focusing on. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact your Year 2 Teacher.
