Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to 3C for a wonderful class assembly this morning - it was brilliant for us all to find out all about the amazing work they have been doing! Well done to 3C and also to Miss Castledine.

What an amazing experience our KS2 Choir had at the Young Voices Concert 2022! Not only did this amazing group of BHPS children raise the roof at the O2 as part of the largest children’s choir concert in the world, they were also perfectly behaved!

I know from the many parents, children and staff that I have spoken with, it was a magical evening. After the postponement of this concert from earlier in the year, we were delighted to be able to attend this event. I would like to thank Mr Devlin, Mrs Windover, Miss Gray, Mrs Greenslade and Miss Whittaker for taking the children to the O2 and taking such great care of them all! If I could just remind Year 4, 5 and 6 parents and carers, the KS2 Choir after school sessions have now come to a close for the rest of this academic year.

To confirm, our KS1 Choir is still meeting once a week for rehearsals every Thursday lunchtime. We are also delighted to announce that we are in the process of organising a KS1 Summer Concert for our KS1 Choir and pupils who learn a musical instrument at school. A tentative date for this at the moment is 17th June, 3.40-5pm. Miss Turner will be in touch soon with more details, but for now if your child is in our KS1 Choir or plays a musical instrument in school, please do keep the date free.

I would also like to thank Mrs Chapman for coming into school on Tuesday morning to organise for the Jubilee artwork to be sent off - please see below for more information regarding this.

Next week, keep an eye out for a letter regarding our Jubilee celebrations that will be taking place across the whole school on Friday 27th May. We are still hatching our final plans and are looking forward to sharing these with you soon.

I am also delighted to advise that Mrs Buchanan will be starting a Maths Rockstars after school club on a Thursday from 3.15-4pm for children in years 3 and 4. This club is allocated on a first come first served basis - we only have 20 spaces, so please email Mrs Buchanan at l.buchanan@bigginhillps.com to find out if there is still space.

Last Friday’s planting activities for Earth Day were enjoyed across the whole school. It was so nice to see the children enjoying being outside and planting to improve the environment directly outside their classrooms.

Please remember that Monday 2nd May is a bank holiday and school will be closed.

Whatever you are doing for the long weekend, have a wonderful time. Let’s hope the sun is shining!

My very best wishes,

Mrs Freeman

Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead

A message from the Friends of BHPS

Thank you for returning your artwork. To confirm, this has now all been sent off to Xmas4Schools for processing. Please look out for an email from them in the coming days. This will have your portal password so you will be able to order your Jubilee tea towel and/or mugs. Thank you.
