YN Jill Barklem (Nursery) Class
Biggin Hill Primary School Nursery Class
We provide early education and an introduction to your child's journey into mainstream school.
Biggin Hill Nursery Class offers a nurturing, warm, friendly and stimulating environment. We pride ourselves on providing a fully inclusive multi-sensory, imaginative provision.
Does Early education make a difference?
Early education is the foundation for later success and research demonstrates that high quality early education can substantially increase a child's chances of succeeding in school. Biggin Hill Primary has identified the importance of early years education and that a positive start to your child's education will enable a smooth transition into school life.
How will my child learn?
Biggin Hill Primary is dedicated to meeting the needs of the child as an individual, as well as their families. To ensure we provide the very best, we strive to achieve the goals set by the national Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our Nursery class delivers this by way of continuous provision, an environment promoting child led learning. Nursery class is resourced using structured learning specific areas equipped with age appropriate quality provisions with a specific learning goal in mind. Enabling children to play and explore in a variety of ways and return to consolidate their learning. We use Tapestry, an online learning journal, to build a personalised record of your child's experiences, development and learning journey through their early years which is continued in Reception class.
What is Free Flow play?
Free flow play allows children to move freely indoors or outdoors however they please in all weathers. This is encouraged by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as it provides a richer learning environment for younger children. Biggin Hill Primary encourages free flow play. We are fortunate to have a dedicated outdoor play area as well as access to extensive grounds. We also benefit from our very own forest school and have tailored forest school sessions in our weekly timetable.
Partnerships with parents
A partnership with parents enables us to tailor our service around the specific needs of your child, parents are the experts on their children! Regular, positive communication and a commitment to working together means that we are able to provide a consistency between home and this school which aligns within the concept of the whole child approach and has been found to equate to better outcomes for the child.
Biggin Hill Primary are fortunate to have a highly experienced team who all have a wealth of knowledge, full and relevant early years qualifications as well as Paediatric First Aid training.
