Y3 Jeremy Strong Class
Our literacy work this half-term will be based around Home in the Sky by Jeannie Baker. We will be focusing on different spelling patterns, homophones and common exception words. We shall be writing the sequel to Home in the Sky and using our narrative skills to include description about setting, character and plot. We shall also be focusing on the use of paragraphs to group related material and be learning how to effectively edit our own work.
In maths we will be learning about measurement of mass, capacity and length. We shall be sharpening our arithmetic skills in learning how to add 3 digit numbers and ones/tens mentally. We will learn our multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. In multiplication we shall be learning how to multiply 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers using the tables we already know.
Our science question is ‘how can Usain Bolt move so quickly?’ We will learn about how to look after bodies, eating healthily and have an introduction into the digestive system. We will set up experiments, make accurate measurements, record our observations and describe our conclusions using scientific words.
Our humanities question is ‘What is so special about Greece?’ We will learn about Archimedes, Greek history and mythology in addition to our Greek Workshop on May 18th – further details top follow!
We will continue our recorder lessons and develop our skills in reading music. In French we will learn vocabulary related to count to 30, clothing and months of the year. We are also looking forward to ScootSure and Lichtenstein’s class assembly!
