Darwin Class

Our literacy work this half-term will be based around The Bear under the Stairs by Helen Cooper and The Minpins written by Roald Dahl.  We will plan our writing by discussing our ideas and retell the stories in our own words. We will begin to recognise and use homophones correctly and use different types of sentences.

In maths we will find 1, 10 or 100 more or less than any 2-digit number, count from any number in multiples of 10 and recognise the place value of each digit in a two-digit number. We will read and write numbers to 100 in words and numerals and compare and order numbers to 100.  We will solve problems and explain our reasoning using these skills.

Our science question is ‘Why would a dinosaur not make a good pet?’We will learn to recognise the difference between things that are living, dead and have never been alive, find out about and describe the basic needs of animals for survival and to know that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited

Our geography question is ‘Why do we like to be beside the seaside?’ We will start to use basic geographical vocabulary and identify the features of a place. We will compare Biggin Hill and Hastings.
