Dear parents and carers,

We have had a fantastic start to the new academic year! You will have noticed our new gates, reception area and signage; and hope you will agree that the site is a lot smarter and safer! All of the children look wonderful in their ties, please do make sure that your child has one if you have not already done so.

The classroom name display boards will be finished today and they look fantastic! The children have done some really creative and fascinating work about the famous Britons whom their classes are named after. Our new Reception classes have settled  in beautifully and we have  been especially impressed with how impeccably behaved they have been at lunch time—well done Reception!

There are so many exciting things planned for this term—trips, special visitors and Buzz days have begun to fill up our calendar! Year 3 had a Buzz Day yesterday—they have been learning about shadows and were drawing around their shadows on the playground and then watched them move through the day; they then spent the afternoon doing an art workshop! Tennis coaching started in Year 2 this week, sessions will be on Wednesday mornings—please make sure that your child has their PE kit in school every day.

We are hoping to expand our volunteer reader scheme this year. If you are able to volunteer for an hour or so every week to listen to children read, we would be extremely grateful! If you are keen,  please register your interest with the office and collect a volunteer agreement form. Well done to Y4 Offiah class who had the best attendance this week—99.1%. Have a wonderful weekend!

James Ellis
